CMU 15-110 Fall 2018: Principles of Computing
Homework 1 (Due Tuesday 4-Sep at 8pm)
- This hw has two parts -- a team hw, which is richly collaborative, and a solo hw, which is not collaborative but entirely solo (though of course with extensive supports by our TA's and course faculty). Please see the syllabus for details. These two parts are weighted equally in computing your hw1 score.
- What to submit: nothing! You get team hw points simply by attending (and trying!), and you do not explicitly submit CS Academy work -- we have direct access to those files. So just complete the work by the deadline and you are fine!
Team Hw1
- This part of the hw is team-based and collaborative.
- Here are the topics and activities we covered:
- Two-Shape Challenges
- Encode-Decode Challenges
- Parity Card Trick
- The 100 Game
- "A New Perspective" (from CS Academy)
- Current Events Discussion
- One-Handed Shoe Tying (bonus/optional)
Solo Hw1
- This part of the hw is solo and not collaborative. See the syllabus for details.
- Logos [40 pts]
Do the Logos exercise from CS Academy.
- Owl [60 pts]
Do the Owl exercise from CS Academy.
- Bonus/optional: Your Own Invention (in CT1) [up to +10 pts]
Do a Creative Task. Store it in CT1 (the first Creative Task). Have fun, be super creative! To keep us all on even footing, please only use the concepts from Unit 1. So if you know about functions and loops and such, let's hold off for now. Just use Unit 1 drawing commands. We have seen some truly beautiful and wonderful projects made just from those! Good luck, and have fun!!!
